Fire Safety Search at FIREX 2017, the Fire Safety Search attended FIREX International 2017 to cover the latest fire safety and fire protection industry developments.
On one of the hottest days of the year for the UK where temperatures outside were tipping over 30c we eagerly made our way through the concourse to the very welcoming air conditioned hall. It was great on first sight to see so many of our colleagues and associates starting to make their way around the 100+ exhibitor stands.
FIREX 2017 provided fire and security professionals access to the very latest technology from suppliers across the world, plus the cutting-edge solutions and essential knowledge needed to ensure life safety.
With all that has happened across the news in recent weeks, and in particular in the wake of the tragedy at Grenfell Tower, fire safety is at the forefront of everyone’s minds. It was great to see the exhibition supporting those who are victims of the disaster with collection buckets and the event organisers pledging to double whatever money is raised for the victims of the disaster. There was also a tribute wall for delegates to leave messages of condolence and support.
The fire industry and world media unite at FIREX International. The emotionally charged event attracted 17,430 visitors and 129 exhibitors, representing 67 different countries. The fire industry came together to meet, network and discuss the challenges facing their industry.
Conversations naturally centred on the Grenfell Tower tragedy of last month and what’s needed in order to drive change. The tragedy was also marked by a collection for the victims and tribute wall, as well as a series of seminar sessions on the topic.
Amongst the sessions covered was a panel debate between a panel of fire experts on the need for an overhaul of regulations following the tragedy. In an emotional debate, which began with a one-minute silence to commemorate the victims, Dennis Davis of the Fire Sector Federation (FSF) said the industry was ‘creating the legacy for the next 50 years’ following the Grenfell tower fire.
The Fire Safety Search team provides fire professionals with the latest news and products, and our annual presence at FIREX International allows us to deliver the latest developments.
